On August 15, 2016, 48-year-old Mitchell Timothy Szegi went missing from Dixie County, Florida. An avid fisherman from Ocala, Szegi departed from Horseshoe Beach at approximately 12:00 p.m. in his 22-foot fishing boat. He was expected to return by nightfall, but he never did, and all communication with him was lost. His family reported him missing the following day, prompting a large-scale search operation.
