Terry Harold Law, a 50-year-old man, was last seen in Titusville, Florida on May 27, 1997. It is believed by authorities that he went for a hike in the heavily wooded area behind his apartment complex, the Windover Woods Apartments, situated in the 2600 block of Columbia Boulevard, after finishing work for the day. This woodland area, located west of the Windover Farms subdivision between Interstate 95 and State Road 405, was just yards from his home. Law had a known passion for hiking and photography in this area. It was his custom to carry a tote bag containing a compass, a folding shovel, a knife, and a flashlight on his excursions.
Having relocated to Titusville from New Mexico only a few months prior to his disappearance, Law may not have been intimately familiar with the local terrain. He lived by himself, and the nature of his self-supervised job often required him to travel, which resulted in a delay of several days before he was reported as a missing person.
A thorough three-day search of the woods was conducted, which yielded some evidence suggesting his presence in the area. Among the items discovered were a canteen, a flashlight with a depleted battery, and trees that had been marked with notches. Despite these discoveries, there was no trace of Law himself. Authorities pointed out the existence of marshes within the woods that could reach depths of up to six feet, posing a significant risk of entrapment to an individual. While foul play is not suspected in Law's disappearance, he is presumed to be deceased.
