Juan Carlos Herrera-Arias, a 24-year-old Colombian immigrant, vanished in Miami, Florida, on November 18, 1993, under circumstances that suggest foul play. Having moved to the United States only nine months prior, he had settled in the Fontainebleau Park area and was working part-time in construction. On the day he went missing, Herrera-Arias was last seen by a friend. While he owned a dark blue 1990s model Suzuki Samurai, he was last seen in a beige van. It remains unknown whether he was the driver or a passenger in the van. At the time of his disappearance, he was known to frequent the Miami-Lakes and Miami Gardens areas.
Herrera-Arias was described as a Hispanic male with black hair and brown eyes, standing at 5'9" and weighing approximately 150 pounds.
