In December 2022, a significant development in the case occurred when an individual walking through a wooded area near the intersection of 224th Street and 37th Drive discovered skeletal remains. Along with the remains, certain items associated with Carlisle were also found at the scene.
In September 2023, authorities confirmed through forensic analysis that the skeletal remains were those of John Frank Carlisle. Despite the discovery, the circumstances surrounding his death remain under investigation. Law enforcement officials have stated that there were no immediate indications of foul play.
