Pepper Reed was 23 years old when she was last seen by her family in Houston, Texas, between December 12 and December 18, 1975. During this time, she introduced her mother and brother to her new boyfriend, Terry Rasmussen, and informed them that she was pregnant with his child. Her family last spoke with her in December 1975. After the Christmas holiday, Reed and Rasmussen reportedly moved to Anaheim, California.
It is known that Pepper Reed gave birth to a daughter, Rea Rasmussen, in Orange County, California, on June 15, 1976. However, following the birth of her child, Pepper Reed disappeared from public records and has never been heard from again. While she was last seen by family in Texas in late 1975, she was known to be alive in Orange County on June 15, 1976.
Investigators believe Terry Rasmussen was a serial killer, and he is a suspect in the Bear Brook Murders in New Hampshire. Tragically, his daughter with Pepper, Rea Rasmussen, was later identified as one of the victims in that case. Authorities suspect that Pepper Reed may have also been a victim of Rasmussen.
