Roberta Musquiz Pagan, a 35-year-old woman from Las Vegas, Nevada, was last seen on January 31, 2003, while on a Carnival Cruise with her husband and five-year-old son. The family was aboard the cruise ship 'Elation' in the midst of a voyage between Mazatlan and Cabo San Lucas, approximately ten miles from the coast, when she vanished. Pagan is a Hispanic female with brown hair and brown eyes. At the time of her disappearance, she was 5'5" and weighed 160 pounds.
Distinguishing characteristics include a scar on her left ankle, a mole on her right cheek, and scars on her left thigh and breast from a dog attack that occurred about a decade before she went missing. She was reportedly wearing a cream-colored shirt and shorts set with dolphins and the words "Puerto Vellarta" on the shirt, along with black flip-flops.
On the evening of her disappearance, Pagan had an argument with her husband. Following the disagreement, her husband took their son to their cabin, and they went to sleep. When he woke up, he discovered that his wife was missing. One account states that Pagan was last seen leaving her room at 1:00 a.m. to take a walk and never returned. The day after she vanished, the ship docked in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, but there was no indication that she had disembarked there. The investigation into her disappearance officially began when the ship docked in San Pedro, California.
Pagan's husband has been ruled out as a suspect in her case. The U.S. Coast Guard was unable to assist in the search for Pagan because she disappeared in Mexican waters. While authorities have stated that there is no evidence of foul play in her disappearance, Pagan's friends and family believe otherwise.
