On July 8, 2024, four-year-old Athena Lee and her younger brother, Mateo Lee, disappeared from Sacramento, California. The children's disappearance is directly linked to the death of their mother, Angelica Bravo, who was found deceased in a North Sacramento home on the same day. The children were not at the residence when their mother's body was discovered, and their father, Camron Lee, was also missing.
Authorities believe the children are with their father, Camron Lee.
Lee's car was seen crossing into Mexico on July 11, 2024, and investigators suspect the children may have been dropped off somewhere in Southern California before he crossed the border. Initially, because Lee was the biological father and Bravo's death had not been ruled a homicide, he was not immediately considered a suspect. However, months later, Bravo's death was determined to be a result of homicidal violence, and in April 2025, Camron Lee was charged with her murder.
At the time of her disappearance, Athena Lee was described as having brown hair and brown eyes, standing 3 feet, 2 inches tall, and weighing 40 pounds. Her brother, Mateo, had brown hair and brown eyes, was 2 feet, 5 inches tall, and weighed 25 pounds. Their father, Camron Lee, also known as Saroeun Chea, Tae Won Lee, or "Major," is described as an Asian male, 5 feet, 9 inches tall, weighing approximately 180 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. He has numerous tattoos on his neck, torso, arms, and upper back.
The FBI is involved in the investigation and is offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to the location and recovery of Athena and Mateo Lee. An additional reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of Camron Lee. The children's family continues to hold out hope for their safe return and actively works to keep their faces in the public eye. While investigators have stated they do not believe the children are in danger, their family remains desperate for their return as the investigation continues.Last Seen: Jul 8, 2024
