Regina Marie Garcia, aged 33, was last seen on October 16, 2008, in Sacramento, California. According to her boyfriend, Randy Macedo, she left their home on Stewart Road riding a bicycle and never returned. Macedo did not report her missing until October 30, 2008. Garcia left behind her essential identification documents, including her Social Security card and health insurance card, which raised concerns about her sudden disappearance.
At the time, Garcia was enrolled in a methadone program due to her history of heroin addiction.
Garcia had six children, the youngest of whom was with Macedo, and she had lost custody of her other five due to her drug issues. Although Garcia had disappeared in the past, she had always returned after brief periods. However, after her disappearance in 2008, she was never heard from again.
Macedo became a person of interest when law enforcement, during an unrelated incident in 2012, discovered illegal weapons at his residence. This revived interest in Garcia's case, and inconsistencies in his story led to suspicions of foul play. Despite being the prime suspect, Macedo has not been charged in connection with Garcia's disappearance.
