Breanna Laura Labat, a 32-year-old mother of two, was last seen in East Palo Alto, California on November 24, 2022. Labat, who worked as a FedEx driver, rented a room in a home on Daphne Way in East Palo Alto. She was reported missing on December 6, 2022. Labat is described as a Black female, 5'7" tall and weighing 180 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. She has a scar on her head and the back of one of her shoulders, as well as a tattoo of the name "Najae" in an unspecified location.
The investigation into Labat's disappearance quickly shifted to a homicide case. On December 28, 2022, authorities arrested 44-year-old John Caisiano Thompson, the man from whom Labat was renting a room, on suspicion of her murder. Investigators believe that Thompson shot and killed Labat during an argument. It is also alleged that a stray bullet injured another person inside the home at the time of the incident.
Authorities have stated their belief that Thompson disposed of Labat's body after the murder, and her remains have not yet been located. Foul play is suspected in her disappearance, and the case is being treated as Labat's presumed death. Thompson is awaiting trial for her murder. The East Palo Alto Police Department and the San Mateo County District Attorney's Office are continuing to investigate the case and are seeking information from the public to help locate her remains. This was reported as East Palo Alto's fifth homicide of 2022.
