Kathleen Ann Haney, a 56-year-old woman from Riverside County, California, was last seen on January 22, 2017. On the day of her disappearance, she was in the company of 27-year-old Kyle Nathan Cagey, who was the boyfriend of her daughter. The pair had gone to the Soboba Casino near Hemet, California, where Cagey was reportedly meeting someone to get money. Surveillance footage from the casino showed Haney gambling while Cagey completed his transaction.
Later that evening, Haney called her daughter, who said she would meet them at the casino. However, by the time her daughter arrived around 9:30 p.m., both Haney and Cagey, along with Haney's van, were gone. Casino surveillance footage showed only Haney and Cagey in her van as it left the property and entered the Soboba Reservation.
The situation took a grim turn on the morning of January 23, 2017, when authorities discovered Haney's van engulfed in flames in Castile Canyon on the Soboba Reservation. Inside the van was the body of a dog that did not belong to either Haney or Cagey. Nearby, another burning vehicle was found which belonged to Cagey's cousin, who had been murdered a few days prior. Haney's daughter believes they may have gone to the reservation to retrieve her cousin-in-law's vehicle.
On January 24, 2017, Cagey's body was discovered partially buried in a riverbed in Riverside County. He had been shot multiple times and his body was burned. There was no sign of Kathleen Ann Haney at the scene, and she has not been seen or heard from since. Her family fears she may have been killed because she witnessed Cagey's murder. Both her disappearance and Cagey's death remain unsolved, and no arrests have been made in connection with either case. At the time of her disappearance, Kathleen Haney was described as a white female, 5'2" tall, weighing 145 pounds, with brown hair and green eyes. She has a tattoo of the name "Tommy" on her left finger and a rose on her right buttock.
