Jeremy Dewayne Ashley, a 29-year-old man, went missing on November 9, 2017, in Trinidad, California. He was a white male with brown hair and brown eyes, stood at 6'3" tall, and weighed approximately 215 pounds. At the time of his disappearance, he was wearing a black jacket and gray pants. Ashley has several distinguishing tattoos, including a scroll with writing on his ribcage, a paw print on his upper chest, and another tattoo on his lower abdomen.
According to reports, Ashley was hiking with a friend off-trail at College Cove Beach on the afternoon of his disappearance. At approximately 2:20 p.m., he lost his footing on a rock and fell into the ocean during a heavy tide. The strong waves quickly pulled him out to sea. His friend ran to her car to get her phone and call for help, but by the time she returned, Ashley was no longer visible.
An extensive search was launched involving the U.S. Coast Guard and the Humboldt County Sheriff's Department. Despite their efforts, which continued for several hours before being called off as darkness fell, the only trace of Ashley that was found was one of his shoes. His body has never been recovered, and he is presumed to have drowned. The Humboldt County Sheriff's Department is the investigating agency for this case.
