In a heartbreaking conclusion to a nearly year-long search, the remains of Timothy Floyd Sterner, a 27-year-old man from Lancaster, Kentucky, were discovered and identified. Timothy, also known as 'Little Timmy,' was last seen by his family on April 9, 2024, as he was leaving their home in Lancaster. He was officially reported missing to the Kentucky State Police on April 11, 2024.
At the time of his disappearance, he was wearing a dark blue hat with yellow trim, a plain gray t-shirt with a gray undershirt, blue jeans with tan paint splatter, and white Nike tennis shoes. He also had numerous tattoos on his body. The initial investigation provided few leads, leaving his family and friends in a state of uncertainty and distress.
The search for Timothy centered on Jessamine County after his last known reported location was on River Road on the evening he disappeared. A significant development in the case came when investigators found a vehicle that Timothy had been driving on Sulphur Well Road, near River Road. The vehicle had been involved in a single-vehicle crash on the same day he was last seen and was found unoccupied. Inside the vehicle, authorities discovered items that were believed to belong to him. Despite this discovery, his whereabouts remained unknown for many months, deepening the concern of his loved ones and the community.
Tragically, the search came to a somber end when human skeletal remains were found in a wooded area along Sulphur Well Road in Jessamine County. The remains were discovered on March 13, 2025, by Kentucky State Police personnel who were following up on leads in the missing person case. After being sent to the State Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy, the remains were officially identified as those of Timothy F. Sterner Jr. on July 23, 2025. The cause and manner of his death have not yet been released, and the investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death is ongoing. Authorities have asked that the family's privacy be respected during this difficult time.
