On a late summer day, August 24, 2019, the family of 35-year-old Ervin Nez Jr. was plunged into a world of uncertainty and concern. An enrolled member of the Navajo Nation, Ervin was last seen in the Cottonwood area, just to the west of his hometown of Chinle, Arizona. In the time leading up to his disappearance, he had been staying at the homes of various family members. His sudden absence was out of character and sparked immediate worry among his loved ones.
