The storm brought with it strong winds and significant flooding, causing widespread damage that included homes being torn from their foundations.
In the ensuing chaos, several residents of the small community were reported missing, launching a large-scale emergency response as the community grappled with the storm's devastating impact.
Immediately following the reports of missing persons, a robust search and rescue operation was initiated. The effort was a coordinated response involving the Alaska State Troopers, the U.S. Coast Guard, and both the Alaska Army and Air National Guard.
