In the winter of 2022, a 35-year-old man named Stephen J. Houghton from Keeseville, New York, vanished. He was last definitively seen on February 20, 2022, at a Stewart's Shops gas station in Port Henry. At the time of his disappearance, Stephen was described as being approximately 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighing around 225 pounds, with black hair and blue eyes. The circumstances surrounding his last known movements were vague, and it was unclear what he was wearing or in which direction he was traveling. His disappearance would not be officially reported to the authorities for over a year, adding a layer of complexity to the investigation into what happened to him. Two days after his last sighting, on February 22, 2022, a significant clue in Stephen's case surfaced when his vehicle was found abandoned on Johnson Pond Road in the town of North Hudson. Law enforcement was alerted to the abandoned car, which was identified as belonging to Houghton. Despite the discovery of his car, Stephen was nowhere to be found, and attempts by the police to get in touch with him were unsuccessful.
