In January 1969, the Ojai Valley and surrounding areas in Ventura County, California, experienced unprecedented rainfall that led to catastrophic flooding. Between January 17 and January 29, over 30 inches of rain fell, with a significant portion—approximately seven inches—descending within a 24-hour period. This deluge caused rivers and creeks to overflow, resulting in widespread destruction and loss of life.
