In the summer of 2024, concern grew for 48-year-old Eric Richard Speckert, a man who had become disconnected from his family. Sometime in August, he was dropped off in the city of Ashland, Ohio. At the time, he was dressed for the warm weather in shorts and a t-shirt. He was carrying a makeshift tent, a detail that spoke to his life circumstances.
