A 72‑year‑old man named David Brinkmeyer was reported missing from Cougar, Washington, after being last seen on November 13, 2024. He had been on a hunting trip near the Muddy River and attempted to cross the river using an inner tube attached to a rope system intended to transport him to his hunting camp. During the crossing, the tube overturned and he was swept away by the swift current.
