Derico T. Sanders II, a 33-year-old man from Jacksonville, North Carolina, was reported missing on November 6, 2024. Sanders was last seen on that date, and his disappearance prompted an extensive search by local law enforcement. On December 11, 2024, a body was discovered in a sediment trap off Gum Branch Road near the Jacksonville city limits. The North Carolina State Medical Examiner’s Office positively identified the body as that of Derico Sanders on December 17, 2024.
