In the autumn of 1987, a 58-year-old man named Raymond Edward Shore told his family he was going for a drive to northern Arizona from his home in Mesa. It was November 1st, and he was behind the wheel of his distinctive yellow 1976 Datsun pickup truck with the Arizona license plate ASA-524.
