In the autumn of 1987, a 58-year-old man named Raymond Edward Shore told his family he was going for a drive to northern Arizona from his home in Mesa. It was November 1st, and he was behind the wheel of his distinctive yellow 1976 Datsun pickup truck with the Arizona license plate ASA-524. This would be the last time his family ever saw or heard from him. Raymond was a white male with graying hair and hazel eyes, standing at approximately 5'11" and weighing around 165 pounds. He wore metal-framed eyeglasses and had a scar on his abdomen from a hernia surgery. The circumstances leading up to Raymond's disappearance are heartbreaking. He had been suffering from depression, a struggle that was compounded by his wife's recent decision to file for divorce. Just six weeks before he vanished, Raymond had attempted to take his own life. In a seemingly preparatory move, he had also placed his personal belongings into a storage unit before he drove away that day.
