In the late winter of 1991, a young man named Reuben Micah Lewis, just 20 years old, vanished from Everett, Washington. On the evening of February 21, 1991, a friend dropped Reuben off at the Mallard Cove Apartments, located in the 12400 block of Admiralty Way. He was last observed walking towards the "C" building of the complex. The friend who had given him a ride waited for about forty minutes, but when Reuben failed to return, the friend departed. Reuben Lewis has not been seen or heard from since that night. At the time of his disappearance, he was described as being between 5'11" and 6'1" tall, weighing around 130 to 150 pounds, with brown hair and green or blue eyes. Reuben had several distinct characteristics that set him apart. He had scars on his chin and on the left side of his mouth. He wore a nose ring in his right nostril and had other body piercings. A notable feature was a large tattoo on his upper left arm depicting the "Joker" with fangs. On the day he went missing, he was wearing a woman's leather jacket, purple Levi's pants, and pink or red and black tennis shoes. He also wore several bracelets, including a medical bracelet and an identification bracelet. Personal items he was believed to be carrying included a pink and white wallet and a Batman key chain. He also used the nicknames Ben, Ben Jarvis, and Ruben Kinkaid Blue, and possessed false identification for these aliases. The circumstances leading up to Reuben's disappearance involve his known activity as a drug dealer in the south Everett area. On the night he vanished, he had received a page around 8:00 p.m. and his trip to the Mallard Cove Apartments was reportedly to complete a drug transaction. It has been reported that he might have been carrying a substantial amount of cash, possibly around $2,000, at the time. His case is classified as an endangered missing person, and authorities suspect foul play was involved due to the nature of his activities and the abruptness of his disappearance. For decades, the search for answers has continued, but the case has grown cold, leaving his family without closure. The investigation by the Snohomish County Sheriff's Office remains open, a lingering mystery of a young man who disappeared into the night.
