In the autumn of 1999, a painful and prolonged mystery began for the family of Jeanette Maria DeLaCruz. At nineteen years old, just shy of her twentieth birthday, Jeanette was last seen at her home in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on October 20, 1999. On that day, she was reportedly wearing a white shirt and white pants.
