Jason Jolkowski, a 19-year-old from Omaha, Nebraska, disappeared on June 13, 2001, under puzzling circumstances. He was last seen by a neighbor at 10:45 a.m., helping his younger brother bring in trash cans outside their home. Jason was supposed to meet a coworker at his former high school, Benson High, just eight blocks away, to get a ride to his job at Fazoli's restaurant. However, Jason never made it to the meeting point, and no one saw him after he left his home.
There was no sign of Jason along his route, and surveillance footage from the high school showed he never arrived. Despite extensive searches by law enforcement—on foot, horseback, and even via helicopter—no clues about his whereabouts were ever found. His bank account, cell phone, and other personal items, including his car, were left untouched. Jason had about $60 on him, but no significant amount of money or personal belongings were taken, which led authorities and his family to rule out the idea that he had run away.
Jason's disappearance baffled both investigators and his family, who have described him as a responsible and quiet young man without any known enemies. Over time, his case has drawn national attention, leading to the establishment of "Jason’s Law" in Nebraska in 2005. This law created a statewide missing persons database aimed at aiding investigations into missing individuals. His family also founded the organization Project Jason, which provides resources and support to families of the missing.
