Jeanine Harms-Sanchez, 42, was last seen on July 27, 2001, in Campbell, California. After spending the evening with friends at Bucca di Beppo and later visiting the Rock Bottom Brewery in the Pruneyard Shopping Center, she left with a male acquaintance, Maurice Xavier Nasmeh. The two went back to her home in Los Gatos, where Nasmeh claimed he left her resting on her couch around 12:30 a.m. Her friends and family grew concerned when they couldn’t reach her the following weekend, leading to the filing of a missing person report on July 30.
Harms' disappearance remained a mystery for years, but investigators quickly focused on Nasmeh as a key suspect. Her home showed no signs of struggle, but several items were missing, including her phone, purse, and a Persian-style rug. In 2004, Nasmeh was arrested and charged with her murder when fibers from the missing rug were found in his Jeep, but due to procedural delays, the charges were dropped in 2007. In a tragic turn, Harms' brother, Wayne Sanchez, shot Nasmeh in 2011, convinced that he had "gotten away with murder." The case was officially closed later that year, though Harms' body has never been found.
