In the early morning hours of August 10, 2002, 38-year-old Cynthia Jane Nesmith vanished from a residence in Baxley, Georgia. She was at the home of an acquaintance located near the 3100 block of Lake Mayers Road at approximately 2:00 a.m. The account given to law enforcement was that while her acquaintance was in the restroom, a car horn sounded from outside.
