Audrey Herron, a 31-year-old nurse and mother of three, went missing on August 29, 2002, after finishing her shift at the Columbia Greene Long Term Health Care Facility in Catskill, New York. She left work around 11 p.m., driving her black 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee with New York license plates X233UV. The journey home, about 12 miles to Freehold, New York, should have taken about 30 minutes, but Audrey never arrived.
That night, the weather was foggy and rainy, which led some to speculate she may have taken an alternative route to avoid bad driving conditions. Her vehicle also vanished along with her.
Audrey was reported missing the next morning by her husband after she failed to return home. Investigations revealed that she had just received a pay raise the day of her disappearance and had a doctor’s appointment the following day, which she missed. Despite extensive searches, including air and land efforts, neither Audrey nor her Jeep has ever been found.
