Andrzej Jakub Slota, a 24-year-old engineering student, was last seen on March 31, 2003, leaving his residence in Monsey, New York, to attend classes at the City University of New York in Manhattan. Andrzej, a Polish national who had moved to the United States with his family in 1998, never made it to his classes and has not been heard from since.
The day after his disappearance, his car, a black Ford Probe, was found abandoned at a Sunoco gas station off the Palisades Interstate
Parkway near the George Washington Bridge. Inside the car were his keys, glasses, and personal papers, but there was no sign of him. His E-Z Pass had not been used to pay the bridge toll, further complicating the mystery. Friends and family described him as an excellent student with no history of alcohol or drug use, though he had been experiencing distress over a recent relationship problem.
