In the late summer of 2023, the quiet life of the Messmore family in Pleasantville, Ohio, was irrevocably altered. On the evening of August 21st, 44-year-old Michael Messmore, a husband and father, was at his parents' home on Cattail Road. He briefly came inside, mentioning to his wife that his phone battery had died and he needed to find a charger.
