Kathy Sue Haskell, aged 41, was last seen on October 16, 2003, at her home in Corpus Christi, Texas. On that night, she told her husband that she was feeling stressed about financial issues and her weight and decided to leave for a while to "unwind." Kathy never returned, and the next day, her husband reported her missing after discovering her car, a burgundy Dodge Caravan, abandoned on a beach south of Bob Hall Pier.
Her keys, purse, and medication were locked inside the vehicle, and no footprints or other signs of her whereabouts were found in the area.
Kathy was known to suffer from severe allergies and depression, requiring medication, which she left behind. Although one of her credit cards was missing, no transactions were made, and her husband promptly canceled it after reporting her disappearance. Her husband also filed for divorce twice—once before she disappeared, and again two weeks afterward, believing she had left him for another man and was involved with unsavory people.
