Amos Mortier, a 27-year-old student, was last seen on November 8, 2004, in Madison, Wisconsin. He attended Madison Area Technical College and had a deep bond with his dog, Gnosis, which made his sudden disappearance especially troubling. On the day he vanished, Amos was seen at school, and when friends and family couldn't reach him, they eventually entered his home days later. There, they found his dog being cared for by a neighbor, his car and personal belongings still at the house, and signs that he had been hanging pictures. However, there was no sign of Amos.

Amos's case quickly became linked to a potential drug debt. Police announced in April 2005 that they believed Amos had been murdered, possibly in connection to an $80,000 marijuana deal. Several persons of interest were identified, and one witness even testified that a suspect had confessed to killing Amos. Despite these leads, no arrests were made, and Amos's body was never found.

The case remains unsolved, though some have criticized the investigation, believing it was hindered by the authorities’ focus on Amos's involvement in drug dealing. His family continues to search for answers, and a reward is still offered for information that could help solve the case.
