In the summer of 2005, a cloud of uncertainty descended upon the community of Mayfield, Kentucky, with the disappearance of 58-year-old Sandra Kay Travis. She was last seen at her home, situated in the area of Old Dukedom Road and Slaughter Road, on July 31, 2005. However, the official report of her disappearance was not filed until August 21, more than three weeks after she was last seen.
