On October 15, 2005, a sense of unease began to settle over the family of 31-year-old Harvey Dale Fernandez. A man known for his connection to his loved ones, Harvey was on a week-long visit to the Peñasco Valley from his new construction job in Colorado Springs when he vanished. Earlier in the day, he had been at a party with some acquaintances.
