Mitchell Buchanan Jr., a 70-year-old man, went missing on October 25, 2006, from his home in Dallas, Texas. He was last seen at his residence on Autumn Woods Trail around 8:00 p.m. Buchanan, who suffered from Alzheimer's Disease and other medical conditions, had recently started a new medication that caused hallucinations and confusion. He left home in his gray 1996 Dodge C15 truck, despite not having driven for several months.
His truck was later found abandoned on October 29, 2006, along the shoulder of Highway 20, near Tyler, Texas. There were no signs of Buchanan at the scene, and his wallet and identification were not with him. Authorities speculate that Buchanan, who was known to frequent casinos in the Shreveport, Louisiana area with his family, may have attempted to travel there or sought help along the way. However, extensive searches of the wooded areas near where his truck was found, as well as checks at local hospitals and shelters, have yielded no results.
