In the summer of 1959, four-year-old Daniel Barter, known affectionately as Danny, was on a family camping trip in Lillian, Alabama, near the scenic Perdido Bay. On the morning of June 18th, the happy, barefoot child, dressed only in gray boxer shorts and holding a bottle of Nehi soda, was playing near the family's campsite.
