The day after Christmas in 1968, a nine-year-old boy named Bob Louis Richard Boyes vanished from his hometown of Port Republic, Maryland. That afternoon, December 26th, Bob, also known as Bobby, had been at a neighbor's house with his brothers, showing off their new Christmas toys. His brothers left earlier, but Bob chose to stay and play longer. When he eventually left the friend's home to walk back to his own, he was accompanied by his pet deer, Pete.
