Laureen Ann Rahn, a 14-year-old girl, disappeared from her apartment in Manchester, New Hampshire, on the night of April 26-27, 1980. Laureen's mother, Judith Rahn, had been away for the evening and returned around midnight to find all the hallway lights in the apartment building unscrewed, leaving it in darkness. Judith initially thought Laureen was asleep in her room, but the next morning she realized it was actually Laureen's friend, and Laureen was missing.
Her clothes and shoes were still in the apartment, and the back door was left open.
Authorities initially suspected Laureen had run away, but her mother was convinced otherwise, as Laureen left behind her belongings, including her purse. Over time, the theory shifted towards foul play. In October 1980, strange phone calls were made to California from Judith's phone bill, including one to a teen assistance hotline, but no substantial leads emerged from these calls. In later years, Judith also received silent phone calls at odd hours, which she believed could have been from her missing daughter.
Despite various investigations and possible sightings, including one involving a witness who reported seeing a girl resembling Laureen at a Boston bus terminal, none of these leads brought any answers.
