Martha Jean McNiel, a 24-year-old woman from North Wilkesboro, North Carolina, was last seen on March 18, 1984, at her mother's residence. Martha had a history of domestic violence, as well as struggles with drug and alcohol abuse. On the day of her disappearance, she was reportedly wearing a Timex watch along with a turquoise ring and a mother-of-pearl ring. She also had a notable scar on her upper lip and may have used the last name Joines.
