Dorothy "Dotty" Davidson, age 39, was last seen on August 10, 1986, at her home in Winter Park, Florida. She was reported missing the following day after she failed to show up for work at Southern Bell, which was highly unusual for her. Concerned coworkers contacted her twin sister, who then reported Dorothy's disappearance to authorities. Upon investigating her residence, police found troubling signs: four .25-caliber shell casings and one bullet on the floor, along with some missing items, including her bedspread, two pillows, and her purse. However, her car was left behind, and there were no signs of a struggle. Investigators later discovered that a .25-caliber handgun, belonging to one of her friends, was also missing from her home.
Despite identifying a potential suspect, the case has remained unsolved, and authorities suspect foul play. Dorothy's disappearance remains classified as an endangered missing person case. Investigators continue to believe she was likely the victim of a homicide.
