Stacie Madison, a 17-year-old from Carrollton, Texas, was last seen on March 20, 1988, alongside her best friend, Susan Smalley. The two were high school seniors at Newman Smith High School and had plans to attend college. On the night of their disappearance, the girls left Susan’s house after midnight in Stacie's distinctive green and gold 1967 Mustang convertible. They made a stop at a 7-11 convenience store, where they unsuccessfully attempted to purchase alcohol.
Later, they were spotted at the Steak and Ale restaurant where Susan worked. This was the last confirmed sighting of the pair.
Two days after their disappearance, Stacie's Mustang was found abandoned in a Dallas parking lot. The vehicle appeared undisturbed, but neither girl has been seen since. Stacie's boyfriend at the time, Kevin Elrod, became a person of interest due to reports of controlling behavior, and he allegedly made a disturbing confession about their fate. However, after passing a polygraph test and a fruitless search of the area he mentioned, no solid evidence was found to link him to the case.
Despite extensive searches and investigations over the years, including a private investigator hired by Stacie’s family, the case remains unsolved. Both families believe foul play was involved, and the mystery of what happened to Stacie and Susan still haunts the community.
