In the late afternoon of June 21, 1989, in Brunswick, Georgia, 14-year-old Michael Anthony Bennett and his 15-year-old sister, Monica, disappeared. They were last seen at approximately 5:00 p.m. at the Heritage Apartments on Altama Avenue. The siblings had gone there to help their stepfather, who was separated from their mother, move from his apartment. What happened in the hours that followed remains a painful mystery.
