In the winter of February 1992, a 30-year-old man named James Matthew Zinza, known to his loved ones as Jim or Jimmy, was last seen by his family in the Mesa, Arizona area. At the time of his disappearance, he was described as a white male, standing between 5'11" and 6'0" tall, and weighing somewhere between 180 and 210 pounds. He had sandy, light brown or blonde hair that may have been showing signs of balding or graying, and blue eyes. Jimmy was known to favor a casual style of dress, typically wearing Levis blue jeans, a button-down short-sleeve shirt, and a tee shirt. He did not own a car and instead relied on a ten-speed bicycle for transportation, which he reportedly enjoyed riding around the various cities he called home. Jimmy’s life was characterized by a certain degree of transience; he moved often and was known to have lived in several Arizona communities, including Phoenix, Mesa, Glendale, and Flagstaff. This transient lifestyle contributed to the challenges his family faced in maintaining consistent communication with him. He did not regularly provide his family with updated contact information, which meant that periods of silence were not entirely unusual. However, as time stretched on after that last sighting in February 1992, the silence became a source of deep concern. The typical gaps in communication grew into an unnerving void, and it became tragically clear that his family had lost all contact with him. The years that have passed since James Zinza was last heard from have been filled with uncertainty for his family. Efforts by the Mesa Police Department to uncover his whereabouts have been extensive, but all investigative leads have unfortunately met with negative results. The search for Jimmy has been a long and arduous one, marked by the hope of reunion and the pain of unanswered questions. His case remains a poignant reminder of a man who seemingly vanished, leaving behind a family to navigate a world without knowing what became of their son and brother. The circumstances surrounding his disappearance are a quiet testament to a life interrupted, a story without a final chapter, and a family left waiting for answers that have yet to come.
