On the day of his disappearance, Hardie had a heated argument with his wife and left their home in anger, leaving behind his wallet and keys but taking his dirt bike and helmet. Hardie, an experienced outdoorsman, was known to spend time in the surrounding wilderness, where he often camped, fished, and hiked.
