In the summer of 1995, a 19-year-old man named Johnny Babino vanished from Marrero, Louisiana, leaving behind a family searching for answers. On the evening of July 9th, Babino, who was also known by the nickname "Mookie," was last seen after a friend dropped him off at the intersection of Glendella Street and U.S. Highway 90 in Jefferson Parish around 10:30 p.m. Before parting ways, he mentioned he was on his way to meet someone. At the time of his disappearance, he was reportedly carrying a significant amount of money. He has not been seen or heard from since that night, and the circumstances surrounding his disappearance have led investigators to suspect foul play. Johnny Babino was last seen wearing a white Reebok shirt, black Girbaud jeans, black Nike Air Jordan sneakers, and white socks. He also wore a watch with a blue wristband and a blue and chrome face. He is described as a Black male with black hair and brown eyes. Distinguishing features included a tattoo on his left hand of the letters "HDP" and gold crowns on five of his upper teeth. His family last saw him leaving their home in the 6600 block of Benedict Drive. The case remains an active investigation with the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office. The years that have passed since Johnny Babino's disappearance have not brought any definitive answers as to his whereabouts or what transpired on that July night. Authorities have acknowledged that Babino may have been involved in drug-related activities, and there was an outstanding warrant for his arrest at the time he went missing. Despite these factors, the core of the case remains the sudden and complete loss of contact with a young man. The investigation into what happened to Johnny Babino is ongoing, and his case remains unsolved, leaving a painful void for those who knew and loved him.
