Patrick Wayne Mello, a 13-year-old boy, was last seen at his home in Needles, California, on July 28, 1995. Initially, authorities believed Patrick may have left the state with other juvenile males, as there were reported sightings of him in Laughlin, Nevada. However, these sightings were never verified. A duffel bag thought to be his was discovered near a casino in Mohave Valley, Arizona, but it later turned out to belong to his younger brother, adding to the confusion surrounding his
disappearance.
Patrick's case took a more sinister turn when it was revealed that he had been living with Jimmy Joe Cox, a man later convicted in 2012 for the murder of a young woman in 1982. Although there is no direct evidence linking Cox to Patrick’s disappearance, his involvement in a violent crime raised concerns about Patrick's fate. Cox's victim was also from Needles, further adding to the suspicion surrounding Patrick's case.
