Anthony J. Cavet, a 71-year-old retired railroad worker, was last seen in Zachary, Louisiana, sometime in early June 1996. His postal worker, who regularly interacted with him, reported him missing after noticing his absence. Cavet led a reclusive life on his 40-acre property, where he spent time with his pets, including goats, dogs, and cats, which he was known to care for deeply.
