Kristen Modafferi, an 18-year-old student from North Carolina, disappeared on June 23, 1997, in San Francisco, California. Kristen had recently moved to the city to attend a photography course at the University of California, Berkeley, while working at a local coffee shop. On the day she vanished, Kristen finished her shift at Spinelli's Coffee in the Crocker Galleria around 3 p.m. She told her coworkers she planned to visit Baker Beach that afternoon.
