Robert Earl Sheriff, 50, disappeared on the night of December 23, 1997, after leaving his sister's home in Jackson, Mississippi, to drive to his own residence on Plaza Street. He was last seen around 10:30 p.m., but he never made it home. The following day, on Christmas Eve, Sheriff's Dodge Dynasty was found partially submerged in Hanging Moss Creek, south of Briarwood Drive.
