On May 6, 2000, 35-year-old Kimberly Dawn Vialpando was last seen in Pocatello, Idaho. An employee at American General Finance, she has not been heard from since. Her sister reported her missing on May 8, 2000, after she failed to show up for work and could not be contacted by family or friends. Reports indicate that two juveniles may have seen her arguing with an unidentified man at Memorial Park on the day of her disappearance.
It was also discovered that when she left her home on the night she vanished, she did not take any of her personal belongings with her, including her purse.
Thirteen days after she was last seen, on May 19, 2000, Vialpando's pickup truck was discovered abandoned in the 300 block of North Johnson Avenue in Pocatello. This discovery prompted a five-hour search of the Portneuf River on May 21, 2000, which extended from Memorial Park to American Falls. Although search dogs reportedly showed interest in several locations near the river, it is not publicly known if these specific areas were further investigated. The search of the river did not yield any evidence connected to her disappearance.
At the time of her disappearance, Vialpando was described as a Caucasian female with brown hair and blue eyes, standing at 5 feet 2 inches tall and weighing approximately 115 pounds. She has a scar on her left ankle and several tattoos: a shooting star on her right shoulder, and other tattoos on her left shoulder, an ankle, and an arm. Vialpando, who may also use the last names Gonzales or Keller, was in need of medication that she did not have with her, raising concerns that she may have required medical attention. Law enforcement authorities questioned several people in her inner circle, including her estranged husband.
