Edward Junitz, age 71, was last heard from on August 26, 2002, while sailing his 47-50 foot maroon and white sailboat near Puerto DePortivo, Benalmádena, Spain. He was accompanied by his large black Labrador mix dog, "Smitty." Junitz, an experienced sailor, was enjoying his travels and had planned to sail to Barcelona, Spain. After this last communication, he went missing and has not been seen or heard from since. Despite efforts to locate him, neither he nor his boat has been recovered.
