In the early morning hours of a cold January day in 2005, 53-year-old Robert F. Duerr vanished from the Fountainview Care Center in Waterford, Connecticut. He was a resident at the facility receiving treatment for diabetes. Staff at the care center last saw him at 1:00 a.m. on January 15th; by 4:00 a.m., they realized he was gone and alerted the police.
